Willoughby is the largest neighborhood in the Township of Langley, which is 45 kilometres east of the City of Vancouver, in British Columbia. It is the largest both by population and geographical boundaries. This vibrant community offers housing options, schools, parks and trails, and ample shopping.
As much of the Township, Willoughby combines rural charm and farm experiences with shopping centers and a vibrant commercial and retail core. It is home to the Willoughby Community Centre and the Langley Events Centre which houses numerous collegial and professional sports teams, such as the Vancouver Giants.
The community is mainly characterized by medium-density multi-family housing options, together with rural residential properties, hobby farms and institutional properties. It is one of the most developed areas with a large variety of housing options, including townhomes and condos. The real estate in this area is very competitive, as it is being positioned as one of the hottest and most in-demand neighborhoods in the Township.
You can find very reasonable listings of townhouses with up to four bedrooms. The properties are all fairly new as a result of the demographic growth of the area. The large commercial service area means that there is also a great listing of condos. Most buildings have been built in the last ten years, and there are a lot of new developments that will be completed soon. This means that, in the following years, more listings of high-end condos can be expected to flood the market.
The increase in developments have made the real estate market in this area has become very competitive. This also a very coveted neighborhood due to the work opportunities brought about by the increase in businesses and investments in the area. It is also a perfect location for commuters. As a result, most townhouses and condos tend to sell within two weeks of being listed.
For commuters, Willoughby’s Carvolth Exchange is a huge advantage. It is a major bus loop and park & ride facility that services the community that provides direct express bus service to the region’s Skytrain rail service, and transit services through Langley and to neighboring communities. There is also direct access to the Trans-Canada Highway and Golden Ears Bridge.
Willoughby is also a great area for families or people looking to start a family, since there are several education institutions nearby. Although there is public transport available through the area, driving remains the most convenient method of transportation. There is plenty of parking available. Even though this neighborhood is mainly composed of medium-density residential areas, there are more rural areas and that means that driving remains the main method of transport.
If you are looking for a neighborhood full of rural charm but with the facilities and services of the city, Willoughby is one of the greatest locations you could hope for. It is an up-and-coming large residential area with great accessibility, elementary and high school education facilities, a large commercial area with hotels, a shopping centre, and retail locations, and parks, trails, and recreational amenities for outdoor play.
